facing right. / Legend, in four lines, on a circular
shield: EQVESTER ORDO PRINCIPI IVVENT. Struck in Thrace, 51
A.D., on the occasion of the presentation of a shield by
the Equestrian Order to Nero, then 14 years old, as Prince
of the Youth. RIC (Claudius) 108 (Rarity-4), Sear/RCV
#1920, page 381, valued by David Sear at $12,000.00 in
Fine. At one time, only FOUR specimens were known to exist.
Since then, a few more specimens have been found in the
Balkans, so that Sear's valuation is no longer
''accurate.'' However, this coin type is still rare and
valuable.
